There is something for everyone at LCPC
At Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church we believe that worship is the single most important activity in which a Christian can be engaged. It is the center from which the rest of the Christian life flows. In corporate worship we enter into God’s presence in a special way with other believers in order to give our lives to our Lord so that we can be changed according to His purposes. It is in worship that we see God most clearly, and therefore see ourselves as we truly are.
If this is what worship is all about, then the form of worship is less important than its content. For this reason, LCPC offers two distinct styles of worship services within our one community of faith.
Awake at 8! - The Awakening
A New Contemporary Worship Service
Here at the Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church, we feel that God is calling our congregation to seek the unchurched in the Lebanon community. However, for some the traditional means is not the tool to reach these individuals. After many years of prayer and planning, we are so excited to offer this new worship celebration service called “The Awakening”.
Pastor Rev. Kevin Medlin explains, “Down through the years as you know, every great move of God has been referred to as a “Great Awakening”. History tells us and most Christians agree that sometimes God has chosen to reveal Himself in an extra special way. I feel as though that is exactly what God is going to do in our church. I have no doubt that God is about to reveal Himself to us in an extra special way because we are going to honor Him with sincere, heartfelt, genuine worship. I long for that to happen!”
The Awakening worship service is held each Sunday morning by worship leader Gerald Patton, The Worship Arts Vocal Ensemble, and the Worship Arts Instrumental Team. Here is a word from Mr. Patton about The Awakening.
“I am very excited to be the worship leader for The Awakening. I feel that God is calling us all to experience genuine, heartfelt worship where we completely take the focus off of ourselves and immerse our mind, body, and spirit in glorifying our Heavenly Father. This service is for anyone regardless of age, race, or affiliation. Our only desire is to do the will of God and for God to use us to spread the saving knowledge of Christ to all His people. Music is one of the many tools that we will use. The praise and worship singers and the musicians will work collaboratively to lead the congregation into worship. We do not want the congregation to be spectators, but full participants of this service in every aspect.”
Join us each Sunday Morning at 8 am as we celebrate and honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Traditional Worship Service
10:15 am each Sunday morning
Our Traditional Worship Service is most uniquely identified by its style of music. Led by the pastors and our Director of Music, the worship service flows between music, prayer, scripture and proclamation, as we enter together into God’s presence. The music is led by the organ, piano, and choir and includes both lively congregational singing as well as special music designed to touch our hearts in the way only music can. We sing the great hymns of the church as well as an occasional contemporary praise chorus. Although there is a common structure to each service of worship, there is no sense of going through the motions, since each service is planned individually, with every element designed to enhance and communicate the central theme and message of the service. Although the traditional service is more formal in style, it still has the warmth of a community celebration. Feel free to come as you are ,for God accepts each of us however we come to Him.
